The future is "bright and green" according to a recent report by Knight-Ridder Newspapers. What will this green future hold? Garbage malls, the experts say. Instead of one place recycling paper, another recycling plastic and another recycling alumi num there will be MRF's, laor material resource facilities. At the MRF, pros will sort your garbage. Homeowners will be out of the sorting racket. It's too crucial to the processing of materials and vastly more com plicated than just separating green from brown glass. The MRFs will become "waste exchange centers" or "garbage malls" which you can visit to buy recycled office paper, facial tissue, yard mulch, remixed paint, tile and insula tion. The garbage malls also will be like flea markets, where you can buy someone else's unwanted sofa, along with patched up radios, reuphol stered chairs, kitchen blenders, and old feed buckets. N C 28782 Revival At Pea Ridge Pea Ridge Baptist Church will have a Revival with guest speaker Hubert Street, pastor of Coopers Gap Baptist Church. Services begin Sunday, May 5 at the 11:00 a.m. worship ser vice and continue through Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. each night. Special music each night. A nursery will be provided. The following service will be on Sunday, May 19. -Community Reporter FRIDAY, MAY 3,1991 Tom Moore FENCE Says "Thanks" To Tom Moore Everyone who has spent any time in the environs of FENCE (Foothills Equestrian Nature Center) has heard the story of how FENCE was bom. It seems that there were these five dreamers sitting at a kitchen table, thinking of some way to do something really meaningful for their commu nity. Their dream was to develop a unique facility where the public could come and enjoy nature, both on fool and on horseback. One of those dreamers was honored at a r® ce p ,ion a ‘ FENCE Center Monday evening. That dreamer is Tom Moore. Tom's term as a Vice President of FENCE has come to an end. Tom's service to FENCE has been a valuable asset over the past six years. From finding resources, to making FENCE a (Continued On Back Page) 20C Per 1 ops McCall Competes At NCAA's Junior Olympics, World Cup At the NCAA Rifle Cham pionships at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, freshman Robin McCall of Tryon, led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 3rd place team finish. Two years ago the Buckeyes finished 24th and last year they were 14th. Last week at the National Junior Olympic Rifle Cham pionships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Robin won the bronze medal for third place. She was chosen for the all star team. In May Robin will travel to Strasbourg, France and on to Zagreb, Yugoslavia with the U.S. Shooting Team. In Stras bourg they will compete at the 7th "Master's of Strasbourg". In Zagreb they will shoot in a 1991 World Cup competition. In all the events Robin shoots both smallbore and air rifle. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C.W.
